Mama Wambui’s delivery van disappeared somewhere between Githurai and Kariobangi last Tuesday. Not stolen — just lost. Her driver had taken a wrong turn, gotten stuck in traffic, and by the time he found the address in Ruaraka, the customer had already cancelled the order and demanded a refund via M-Pesa. That single failed delivery cost her KSh 2,800 in lost goods, fuel, and a damaged reputation. She’s not alone. Across Kenya, logistics companies are hemorrhaging money on inefficient routes, missed deliveries, and zero visibility into where their vehicles actually are.
But here’s the surprising part: some of these same companies are now cutting their delivery costs by up to 40% — not by buying more trucks, but by installing smart tracking software that tells them exactly where every vehicle is, in real time, for less than KSh 500 a month per vehicle.
